Winton Clark ‘W. C.’ Rowan, 86, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born November 27, 1930, in Union County to Eugene Cyle Rowan and Troma Estelle Wise Rowan. He was a member of Faith and Mercy Missions in Sherman, MS. He was a retired machinist for Delta International. He loved the outdoors, especially working with his cattle. He loved gardening and giving away watermelons and tomatoes. He was a very loving person who loved everybody he met. He enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus and visiting in the community on Christmas Eve. The family would like to say a special thank you to Lil Nelson and Jo Hill for their love shown to them during this time. We could not have made it without your love and support.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2017, at United Funeral Service with Dr. Donald Payne and Rev. Scott Cockrell officiating.
Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Ann Huffstatler Rowan; 3 daughters: Patricia Ann Campbell (Bill), Judy Faye Ray (Ronnie), and Charlotte Sue Payne (Donnie); 1 son: Winton Clark Rowan, Jr. (Penny); 3 sisters: Margaret Pannell, Nancy Tompkins, and Shelia Barton; 4 brothers: Jack Rowan, Sr., David Rowan, Benny Rowan, and Bill Rowan; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Cupel Andrews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Laher, Zach Rowan, Austin Taylor, Channing Tutor, Daniel Cobb, and Tommy Taylor.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at United.
