Victoria Jumper Porter
July 30, 1942 – May 30, 2018
New Albany-Victoria Jumper Porter went to heaven the morning of Wednesday May 30th at Union County Hospital. She was 75 years old.
Victoria was a graduate of Pine Dale High School and attended NE community college. She married Walter Porter Jr in June of 1961 and they moved to Truman Arkansas. In 1963 they moved to Marietta Georgia where she raised a family. Upon retirement, in 1999 she returned home to Union County. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren and they never had any reason to doubt that. She grew flowers, canned vegetables and made the best Lemon Pie and Chicken Salad I have ever tasted. She paid special attention to animals and people older than her. She loved Mississippi State women’s basketball and watching them play gave her great joy.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walter Porter Jr; son, Kenneth Walter Porter; granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Porter; grandson, Mitchell Garrett Porter; and an over fed cat named Boots.
Her Christian faith assured her that she is joining her Father, James Vardaman Jumper; mother, Patti Jumper; brothers, James Royce and Charles Jumper; and her youngest son, Hugh Vernon Porter.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 31st at United Funeral Service in New Albany Mississippi from 6:00-7:30 pm. Services will be Friday, June 1st at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Enterprise Community Cemetery. Her life will be celebrated by Reverend Dan Darling and Reverend Kyle Ivy.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Tow, Mitchell Porter, Mitchell Jumper, Jim Jumper, David Colins, and Charles Durso.
Her son remembers her saying to “save flowers for the living” but donations to Salem Methodist Church or St Jude Children’s Hospital are always a good idea. Victoria was also known to say “Praise The Lord and Go Dawgs”.
