Union Co Board of Supervisors meeting, April 18

The Union County Board of Supervisors took less than twenty minutes to work through its brief agenda at its Monday, April 18th, meeting.

The board approved an unbudgeted expenditure of $2,965 for a new universal door controller at the law enforcement center and county jail on Carter Avenue. The board was told that the manufacturer of the control unit being replaced had refused to replace it under warranty, claiming that the failure was caused by another faulty component, not a problem with the unit they had supplied.

County Administrator Terry Johnson was authorized to delete some old equipment including a voting machine, old copier, and obsolete computers and printers from the county equipment inventory. The deleted items were an accumulation from several offices in the courthouse.

The board approved the designation of an unmarked motor vehicle for the sheriff’s office.

County board attorney Thad Mueller told the board that the Three Rivers Planning and Development Commission had agreed to make some of its records available to the county election commission.

Chandler Rogers, rumored to be the board’s choice to replace Thad Mueller as board attorney, was present at the meeting, but not seated at the board table. Mueller has resigned from the job to become an assistant district attorney.

The county board will meet again at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 25th.
