About 70 people attended a statewide “webinar” luncheon Wednesday at the Union County Heritage Museum.

The event was a joint effort of New Albany Main Street/Community Development, the Ole Miss MPartner program, and the Mississippi Development Authority. The webinar was broadcast throughout Mississippi.

Main Street/Community Development Director Billy Jean Stroud said, “I am glad the webinar was so well attended and believe it helped focus all of us on what we can do to improve New Albany and Union County.”

About half of those at the Wednesday webinar were students, faculty and staff of the University of Mississippi. The McLean Institute at Ole Miss sponsors the MPartner program, which gives its graduate students real world experience in community problems and solutions.

Local business owner/operators Dan and Elizabeth Skinner (High Point Roasters), Tom and DeAnn Massengill (Brain Freeze and ASI) and Calrenease Cook (Cook Adult Daycare) told the stories of how they started and grew their businesses.
