Shooting in Myrtle under investigation/ UPDATED 8-24-2016

New Albany, MS- UPDATED 8-24-2016:

Early on the morning of Wednesday, August 24, 2016, the Union County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Myrtle, MS woman in a shooting incident of about 5:20 PM the previous evening. The shooting incident, which occurred on North St. in Myrtle, sent a man to The Med in Memphis for treatment.

Cathy White, 50, of Myrtle, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the shooting. According to the Union County Sheriff’s Department, White shot her husband, Doug White, six times, using a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Doug White was air-lifted to the hospital in Memphis. His head was grazed, and he was shot in the shoulder, back, buttocks and leg.

Bond for Cathy White was set at $150,000. White made bond this afternoon (August 24) and she is now free on bond.

Doug White is still undergoing treatment at The Med in Memphis, where he has been interviewed by Union County Sheriff’s deputies investigating the incident.

New Albany, MS- A man was shot multiple times about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, August 23rd at Myrtle, MS.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said the person with the gunshot wounds has been airlifted to The Med in Memphis.

The sheriff said the shooting “stemmed from a domestic situation.”

At 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, Sheriff Edwards and his deputies were continuing to interview witnesses and gather evidence at the scene on North Street in Myrtle.
