Rosemary Gatlin Huffstatler

New Albany-Rosemary Gatlin Huffstatler, was born July 21, 1952, to Curtis and Edna Gatlin. Age 65, Deceased February 4, 2018.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bobby Butler officiating. Burial will be in Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service will be in charge of the arrangements.
Rosemary was a devoted mother, friend, and educator. She taught for 34 years in the Union County school district. She taught 5th grade, 6th grade, Special Education, and 4th grade at Myrtle School. She also taught gifted at Myrtle School and West Union. She received the Union County teacher of the year award in 2007 and was regarded as a teacher whose students always performed well on state tests. She is well known for keeping the books at the Myrtle Hawks Basketball games as their score keeper. She had a special passion for each individual student she taught and treated them with respect. Her students will always remember how she loved and cared about them. She was also an active member of Old Oak Grove Baptist Church in Myrtle, MS. She was the organist for many years, as well as the pianist. She leaves a wonderful legacy to all friends, family, and students who knew her simply as “Miss Rose.” The example she set in the classroom truly reflected the love Jesus has to his children.
She is survived by her son, Curt Huffstatler; her sister, Nancy Lynn Gatlin; her other sisters, Kennie Foley, Penny Hurd, Ann Pernell, and Daphnia McMillen. She is also survived by her in-laws; Charlie Huffstatler, Betty Jo Hill, and Bill Huffstatler; and Mike Huffstatler’s wife, Malinda Huffstatler. Her nieces and nephews include Chuck Huffstatler, Kim Singletary, Angie Maupin, Chad Hill, Mitzi Jo Wilbanks, Samantha Gregory, Kari McManus, Mandy Douglas, Mikey Huffstatler, Mallory Tillery, Julie McCullough, Will Foley, Carrie Foley, Megan Foley, Breanna Hurd, Will Denton, Peyton Denton, Callie Grace Denton, and Adam Fitts. Her honorary grandchildren are Stella and Deacon Foley. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, to include Griffen Andrew Wilbanks. Her legacy will live on not only through her family, but also her many friends, church members, and former students.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Sammy Huffstatler.
Pallbearers will be Adam Fitts, Thomas Cain, Alex Rowland, Bruce Peters, Chuck Huffstatler, Chad Huffstatler, Mikey Huffstatler, Will Foley, Preston Boatwright, and Dr. Johnny Mattox.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. and again Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at United Funeral Service.
