Roger Stone Winter

New Albany—Roger Stone Winter, 68, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. He was born November 14, 1949, in Clarksdale, MS., to L. Q. Stone Winter and Verlene Douglas Winter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served as a military policeman in Vietnam. He was a member of the Ingomar Volunteer Fire Department and had worked at the New Albany Police Department. He was retired from Piper Impact. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at United Funeral Service with Bro. William Whitman officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife: Marsha Murry Winter; 2 daughters: Tina Mathis (Shannon) and Miranda Moore (Scotty), both of Ripley; 4 sons: Chris Winter (Kim) of Wren, MS., Phillip Winter (Brandy) of Ripley, Jeremy Monts (Carrie) of Lafayette, LA., and Tyler Winter (Hannah) of Ecru; 1 sister: Delone Putt (Melvin) of Pontotoc; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law: James Murry.
Pallbearers will be David Hale, David Self, Christopher Winter, Roger Wayne Mathis, Austin Mathis, and James Smith.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at United.
In honor of Mr. Winter’s service to his country United Funeral Service will fly the U. S. Army flag during his visitation and service.
