Two community Christmas events will take place this week in New Albany.

New Albany’s 2017 Christmas Parade will be tomorrow night, Monday November 26th. It will begin at 6:00 PM, and parade participants should be in the line-up by 5:30 PM.

Tom Cooper, former City Alderman, Chancery Clerk and long-time volunteer fireman, is this year’s Grand Marshall.

The parade, with a theme of “Christmas Past and Present,” will take its normal route, beginning near the Tanglefoot Trail bridge over Main Street, proceeding toward the Tallahatchie River bridge, then turning up Bankhead Street toward Central Avenue, where it will disperse.

The Community Christmas Tree Lighting will be in Cooper Park on Bankhead Street on Thursday, November 30 from 5:30PM – 7:30 PM.

This family friendly event will include several activities, including a hot chocolate station, carriage rides, music from area schools, Santa at the Gazette and more.

Winners of the recent art contests at area schools will be lighting the community tree at 6:00 PM.
