Museum Moments: “The Battle of Hurricane Creek”

The public is invited to the February 2017 Museum Moments at the Union County Heritage Museum on Thursday, February 16th.

Author Melvin McClure, Jr. will discuss his book “The Battle of Hurricane Creek” at noon, following an 11:30 lunch courtesy of Kappa Kappa Iota. A book signing will follow the author’s presentation.

About “The Battle of Hurricane Creek”:

Hurricane Creek runs northwest from just north of Oxford to the Tallahatchie River.

Lee M. Bolen, Professor Emeritus of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi, and great-grandson of Nathan Bedford Forrest: “McClure’s book provides a thorough and well-organized presentation of the specific commanders involved in a small series of battles that occurred during the early portion of the Civil War. The movements and tactics of General Nathan Bedford Forrest described in these battles give the reader insight into his unique battle tactics from which he gained his reputation.”
