NALGW Director, Bill Mattox, is named Grand Marshall of the 2018 Christmas parade.

The office has also named the Grand Marshal for the event. Billye Jean Stroud, Community Development director, noted, “The Grand Marshal is awarded to a citizen of Union County who has made a positive impact on our community. Bill Mattox has done this on many levels.” She added, “As Manager of New Albany’s Light Gas and Water, Bill exemplifies what professionalism is. It’s not easy to operate a department of the magnitude of LGW but he does so with such a positive and transparent demeanor that it’s hard to say anything but nice things about him. Not only is he a great leader in our community but he is a great citizen as well. We are lucky to have a person of Bill’s quality in our community, making it a great place to live and are thrilled to have Bill serve as this year’s Grand Marshal of our parade.”

Bill is a native of Union County and graduated from Myrtle High school in 1982. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State in 1986. After graduation Bill began his professional career with Memphis Light Gas and Water. In 2005 he left MLGW to become the Assistant Director of Public Utilities for the City of San Antonio. In 2010 he accepted his current position as General Manager of New Albany Light Gas and Water.

Bill is married to Danita Owen Mattox who is an administrator with the Marshall County School System. They have one daughter, Erin who is married to Jacob Rowland. They make their home in Saltillo. Bill is a member of New Albany Rotary Club, Myrtle Methodist Church, and is Registered Professional Engineer.
