Marvin Ray Chism, 94, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at his residence. He was born October 29, 1922, in Union County to Luther B. and May Smith Chism. He was a member of Keownville Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a logger and a farmer.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2017, at United Funeral Service with Bro. Jerry Bishop and Bro. Chad Chism officiating. Burial will be in Keownville Baptist Church Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Kathy Willard (Jackie), Doris Williams, and Wanda Farr (David) all of New Albany; 5 sons: Jerry Chism of Mayfield, KY., and Raymond Chism (Janie), Curtis Chism (Kay), Dean Chism (Mary Nell), and Ricky Chism (Kim) all of New Albany; 3 sisters: Audry Foster and Betty Smith of New Albany, and Mary Jane Busby of Byhalia, MS.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Willie Pearl Floyd Chism; his parents; 2 sons: William Darrel Chism and William Luther ‘Wormy’ Chism; and 5 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Ashley Kidd, Ricky Bubba Chism, Dennis Chism, Ray Chism, Wesley Simpson, and Jeremy Chism.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2017, at United Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
In honor of Mr. Chism’s service to his country, United Funeral Service will fly the U. S. Army flag during his visitation and service.
