Marlene Evelyn Griner Price

September 22, 1935 – August 9, 2017

Marlene Evelyn Griner Price, 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Magnolia Place Assisted Living. She was born September 22, 1935 to James Brooks Griner and Evelyn Hughes Griner in Screven County, Georgia. She lived her early years in Savannah, Georgia and that is where she met her husband, William Woodson Price, who was stationed at Hunter Air Force Base. They married February 5, 1955 and then made their home in Myrtle, MS.

Marlene worked several years as a sales clerk for Catt’s Drugstore and also the Sears store in New Albany, MS and later helped her husband in his custom cabinet business, Price’s Cabinet and Woodworks. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, working on genealogy and traveling. Marlene was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ish-Te-Ho-To-Pah Chapter, and the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. She attended Myrtle United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at United Funeral Service with Rev. Eugene Stockstill officiating. Burial will be at Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Diane and Joe McCarley Rials of Myrtle; one grandson, Price McCarley Rials of Oxford; one granddaughter, Brittany Diane Rials of Orlando, FL; one brother, Terry D. Griner of Woodstock, GA; her special friend and neighbor, Nan Craig Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, James Rogers Griner and Carol A. Griner and one sister, Annette Griner Lassiter.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00a.m. till service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Union County Human Society, Myrtle United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
