Man arrested in New Albany stabbing incident is identified
New Albany Police Chief Christ Robertson told NAnewsweb.com Sunday that Lane D. Mitchell, age 18, of New Albany, is the person arrested for the stabbing incident Saturday night in downtown New Albany. Roberston said Mitchell, who is white, is charged with aggravated assault.
The victim is a 36-year-old white man from Collierville, TN. The victim is reportedly in critical, but stable, condition at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. His name is being withheld at this time.
Robertston said the New Albany Police Department (NAPD) responded to a call about a man being stabbed at the Tallahatchie Gourmet, a popular downtown New Albany restaurant, at around 9:30 Saturday night. Robertson said the case is still under investigation by the NAPD.
