Leon Wilson

(October 28, 1925 – June 11, 2017)

Leonard “Leon” Wilson, 91, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, at his residence. He was born October, 28, 1925 in White Station, TN, to Lawrence Sanders Wilson Sr. and Faye Perry Wilson. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Dairy Farmer and raised Beef Cattle. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church since 1959 and a Deacon from July 3rd, 1955 until his death. He was part of the Macedonia Brotherhood, Church Van Ministry for 60 years, and went on numerous mission trips.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Bro. David Grumbach and Bro. Dan Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Hardy Wilson of Myrtle; two daughters, Sheryl W. Pepper (Robert) of Eupora, MS and Phyllis W. Cater (Terry) of Myrtle; two sons, L. Wayne Wilson of Myrtle and Kenneth L. Wilson (Mary Ann) of Myrtle; three sisters, Martha Turberville (Gordon) of Arizona, Marqaret Jameson (Alfred) of Tennessee, and Wanda Hill (Bill) of California; a sister-in-law, Marie B. Wilson; and eight grandsons, Thirty great-grand children, and three great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence Sanders Wilson Jr. and James G. Wilson; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Flaniken; a sister-in-law, Erline Wilson; and a brother-in-law, John Flaniken Sr.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at United Funeral Service, and from 10:00 AM until Service time Wednesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Scott Wilson, Lee Wilson, Derek McGill, Kevin McGill, Michael McGill, Jason Cater, Bryan Cater, and Brandon Cater.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Macedonia Baptist Church Deacons, his Sunday School Class, and Ernie Fuller.

In Honor of Mr. Wilson’s service to his country United Funeral Service will fly the U.S. Army flag during his visitation and service.
