Myrtle – Larry Wayne Rorie, 72, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County. He was born February 21, 1944 to the late Rube and Kathleen Williams Rorie.
He was a retired salesman of furniture supplies to manufacturers and industry. He also served in the Air National Guard and was a member of Myrtle United Methodist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many; always looking on the bright side, he was very positive thinking and very optimistic even in the face of adversity. He had a kind and gentle heart and was an inspiration to many.
He loved to travel, cook and entertain friends and family. He enjoyed reading.
Funeral services will be 2:00p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Myrtle United Methodist Church with Bro. Eugene Stockstill officiating. Burial will be at Gerizim Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Pennington Rorie, whom he married in 1968; two sons, Mark Rorie (Julie) of Asheville, NC and Scott Rorie (Sara) of Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, Zora James Rorie; one brother, Jim Rorie of Myrtle; and numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until service time at Myrtle United Methodist Church.
