New Albany – Josie Ruth Jackson Rapp, 83, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born July 22, 1933 in Walnut, MS to Gilbert Jackson and Fannie Bertie Belcher.
She worked for Tennessee Highway Patrol before moving back to Mississippi where she worked for seventeen years as a telephone operator for Walmart in New Albany. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
She loved working daily crossword puzzles. She had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She was quick to ask visitors if they were hungry and enjoyed preparing food for them.
Funeral services will be 11:30a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at United Funeral Service with Bro. William Cook officiating. Burial will be at Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Kirby and a son, David Rapp (Dianne), both of New Albany; five grandchildren: Chris Colucci (Shannon), Angela Colucci, David Hall (Britney), Kelly Clark (James) and Karen Bryant (Brantley) and eleven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 64 years, Ernest Kelly Rapp; and two children, Robert Rapp and Faye Roberts.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:30a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
