Janie Lee Wiley Sanford
Janie Lee Wiley Sanford, 94, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany surrounded by family. She was born May 16, 1921 in Union County to the late Elmo and Mary Etta Cobb Wiley. She was a member of Neely Baptist Church.
She was loved by many and touched many lives with her caring heart. She will be remembered as “Ms. Janie” by all of her friends for her quilting, babysitting and talking on WNAU Radio station during the “Swap Shop” program.
Funeral services will be 1:00p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bobby Casteel and Bro. Jeremiah McMillen officiating. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Geneva Jamieson of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Patricia Wooley (John) New Albany; a son, William “Pedro” Sanford (Regina) of Collierville, TN; a brother, Sam Wiley of Blue Springs, MS; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Adolus (Dodie) Sanford; two brothers, Erskin “Buck” Wiley and Buel “Bill” Wiley; and three sisters, Hazel Boyd, Mary Lou Keller and Sarah Lois Thomas.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 11:00a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
