New Albany, MS – James Allen Johnson, 70, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at New Albany Health and Rehab. He was born to the late John A. and Jewel Goolsby Johnson on December 18, 1945, in New Albany and raised in Hickory Flat. He was a retired barber.
He enjoyed trail riding with family and friends and was a member of North Mississippi Wagon Train and Trail Riding Association. He also enjoyed discussing the daily news with his coffee drinking buddies at McDonalds.
He was a member of Harvester Church in Pontotoc.
Funeral services will be at 3:00p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016, at United Funeral Service with Bro. Sonny Smith and Bro. Willie Raines officiating. Burial will be at Old Glenfield Cemetery. United Funeral Service will be in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice Sprayberry Johnson; a daughter, Jennifer Funderburk (Robert) of Saltillo; a sister, Johnnie Sue Brown of Potts Camp; a brother, David Johnson (Katrina) of Memphis; and two grandchildren, Colt Kizer (Noel) and Jana Kizer.
Pallbearers will be Donald Rogers, Bill Grisham, Donald Thompson, Bo Garrison, Joe Brock, Al Brock, Kenneth Hutcheson, Tommy Bryant and Jimmy Perkins.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00p.m. till service time at the funeral home.
