James Eugene “Gene” Shocklee

James ‘Gene’ Eugene Shocklee, 74, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at his residence. He was born August 15, 1942 in Ingram, AR., to Carl Marion and Bonnie Louise Frazier Shocklee. He was a minister for 59 years serving numerous churches in Southern Missouri, Northeast Arkansas, and North Mississippi. He was an active member and serving elder for the Sherman Church of Christ. He graduated from Maynard High School and attended Freed-Hardeman College, Crowley’s Ridge College, and Arkansas State University. He was a dedicated missionary, Christian, husband, and father.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Sherman Church of Christ with Minister Joe Connell officiating. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife: Georgia Ann Hill Shocklee; 1 daughter: Renee Reid (Bill) of New Albany; 1 son: Jeff Shocklee (Misty) of Clarksville, TN.; 1 sister: Etta Nelle Davis of Engelberg, AR.; 1 brother: Billy Wayne Shocklee (Ada) of Warm Springs, AR.; and 2 grandchildren: Parker Reid and Emma Reid.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Bonnie Carl Shocklee and Wanda Faye Guzzardo.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Sherman Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Charles Shocklee, Bryan Lowery, Frank Anderson, Greg Harrison, and Parker Reid.
