A Sunday evening November 26 fire at 606 Carlisle Street, sent firemen and fire engines from two fire stations to battle the blaze.

The call came to the New Albany Fire Department (NAFD) at 5:35 pm, and a fire engine from NAFD Station One arrived three minutes later.

Fire crews work to put out fire and to protect near-by homes.

Firemen determined that the home was 20% involved when they first arrived. Everyone, including a ten-year-old child, was outside the mobile home when firemen arrived. Another fire engine from Station Two arrived a short time later and hooked up to a hydrant to supply additional water to extinguish the flames.

As NAFD crews prepared to enter the burning building, other firemen were working to protect a home close to the north side of the burning mobile home. That other home reportedly received little, if any, damage.

The mobile home and its contents were a total loss. At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined.

No injuries were reported, but an ambulance from Baptist Memorial Hospital was sent to the fire scene as a precaution.

Red Cross officials were working to help the displaced family at the fire scene.
