Etta, MS– Boyce Durrell Potts, 73, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born October 5, 1943 in New Albany to the late James Boyce and the late Mattie Frances Potts. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church of Etta, where he was a deacon. He was also a member of the Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge. Durrell was the owner of Union Construction Company, Inc. for 33 years.
Visitation will be held at United Funeral Home in New Albany from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Visitation will continue from noon until service time on Thursday. Services will be held at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Etta at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016, with Bro. Bobby Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Ward Potts; two daughters, Kelly Potts Neal of Etta, Jennifer Potts of Etta; and one son, Jason Potts (Jeri) of Booneville; four grandchildren, Jacob Neal, Benjamin Neal, Frances Potts, and Helen Potts; one sister, Sharon Hudson of Oxford; two brothers-in-law, Pat Ward (Virginia) of New Albany and Wayne Ward (Barbara) of Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Barry Potts; and two brothers, Larry Potts and Billy Potts.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Neal, Benjamin Neal, Pat Ward, Henry Orange, Larry Britt, Bailey Swearingen, Sam Harvey, Sammy Coffey, and Jerry Morrisson.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Major Coffey, Nelson Griffin, Joey Fox, Gerald Bogue, Eddie Talbot, Eddie Horn, and Mike Coffey.
