Dees to discuss “The Statue and the Fury” at Luncheon with Books

Tuesday, April 17, Jim Dees will discuss his book The Statue and the Fury at Luncheon with Books at the Jennie Stephens Smith Library in New Albany.

In 1997 Jim Dees was a new reporter for the “Oxford Eagle” when a magnolia tree was cut down to make way for a statue of William Faulkner. This event began a tumultuous year for the southern town of Oxford, Mississippi.

Dees captures 1997 in his wild, insightful, and hilarious book The Statue and the Fury.

A light lunch with be served at 11:30 AM and Mr. Dees will begin at noon.
