If the sound of purring engines and shiny chrome gets your heart racing, then Friday’s “Nifty 50s/60s Night” in historic, downtown New Albany is the place to be.

“The event idea was pitched to us a few weeks ago by local farmers’ market vendor and classic car driver, Pat James,” said Main Street director, Billye Jean Stroud. “I spoke with my assistant and we met with Mr. James and fellow classic car owner and restorer, Henry Potts, to discuss our love for old cars and the logistics of the event.”

Local, classic car owners will gather at the New Albany Main Street office at 6:oo pm and cruise up Bankhead Street, making passes through the parking lots of Sonic and Bumpers Drive-Ins. Drivers will head back down Bankhead and make their last stop at the Biscuits & Jam Farmers’ Market area.

Whether a driver of a classic car or just a fan, the entire community is welcome to come out to the cruise. Once at the farmers’ market, car owners will be sharing their classic car stories and educating the public on the timeline of classic American cars. Cars will be on display until 8:00 pm.

Main Street assistant, Tracy Vainisi, commented, “Downtown New Albany has so many wonderful dining and shopping destinations. We hope our locals as well as visitors to our community will enjoy what we have to offer and look at the Nifty 50s/60s Cruise as a fun addition to the weekend.”
